Character Outfit Price Index 2026

We priced 107 looks built from real clothes. Here is what a character outfit actually costs.

Everyone assumes a good costume or character outfit costs a fortune. We checked. Across 107 looks in our style guide library, each built from real, in-stock Amazon clothes and not a one-night costume pack, the typical outfit costs about the same as a nice dinner for two, and nearly one in three is under $150.

The five cheapest looks

The cheapest looks share one trait: they are built around a single instantly recognizable piece, such as Velma's orange turtleneck or Homer's white shirt, so three or four plain basics do the rest.

The five most expensive looks

Tailored and leather-heavy characters cost the most. A real leather jacket, wool coat or fedora-and-boots combination pushes a build past $380.

Easier looks cost less
